About Us-

Welcome to the Great Lakes Wargaming League (aka GLWL). This site is used by members of the Michigan based league and other local enthusiasts to follow topics related to Games Workshop's Age of Sigmar, operation of the league, announce local tournaments, etc.

My idea and vision of the league is something similar to any major sports league. Where each conference/ division has their own rivalry games/ matches and you need to fight through your conference to come out on top and earn a chance to play in the playoffs.  Unlike sports though, you still get to play in the end of the season fun and have a chance to still win it all in the annual GLWL tournament.

The league is a way to build a community of friends that enjoy the hobby and game that we play.  We all spend thousands of dollars on plastic/ resin toys or “Plastic Crack” for our own enjoyment. So I try to set an enjoyable experience for all who play in the league.

The GLWL is special to me because no where else can you change your roster (some what) in-between games as well. You get a chance to tailor your army to fight your opponent. Maybe try some units that you would normally not take to a tournament because they don’t work on every army but against just the right army they would be great. With the league you have a chance to do those things.

I encourage folks to get all of their games played. I have setup benchmarks and bonuses for people who get their games played in a timely manner. The season is normally 6 rounds of Matched play battles. Where you play against your opponents that our in your division. Everyone should play 6 games. This means you might end up getting a rematch for the divisions that only have 5 players. So, I encourage you to recruit players in your area to join the league. If you make it out of your division on top, then you earn the right to enter the arena of death against the other divisional winners!

The league normally runs every Jan.- May with sign-ups taking place in Nov.-Dec.

Let the battle continue...
